CALL FOR PAPERS
*Special Issue of the International Journal on Network Management (IJNM)**
**
**Management of SDN/NFV-based Systems*
*Submission deadline: January 1, 2017**
*
Scope of the Special Issue
Software Defined Networking (SDN) provides a new approach to manage
network services in a flexible manner, by separating the control and
data planes. In addition, Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) is a
new concept of network architecture that virtualizes traditional network
functions (mobile services, CDNs, firewalls) and builds network services
by interconnecting these virtualized functions. These new technologies
bring the promise of enabling flexible management solutions, but they
also introduce interesting challenges to the realization of efficient
network management. For this special issue, we welcome submissions
addressing these challenges (e.g. in the areas listed below, but are not
limited to) and presenting novel research or experimentation results.
- Management of software-defined infrastructures
- Virtualization of resources, functions, and services
- Automated deployment and orchestration of service function chains
- APIs and management protocols for software-defined environments
- Monitoring and configuration of SDN/NFV-based systems
- Fault management, verification and debugging
- Algorithms for resource management and optimization
- Resiliency and performance management
- Security management, attacks and defense techniques
- Economic, legal and regulative issues
- Policy-based management in SDN/NFV-based systems
- Smart and autonomic mechanisms for softwarized infrastructures
- Management of federated SDN/NFV-based environments
- Computing, content and software as a network-centric service
- Management strategies for cloud and fog computing environments
- SDN/NFV management for cyber-physical systems and IoT
- Virtualization of radio network functions
- SDN/NFV management in 5G scenarios
- Experience reports from management in experimental test-beds
