INTRODUCTION

The Global Information Infrastructure and Networking Symposium
(GIIS)
consists of an interrelated set of technical, policy, and
social
issues implicit in the development of national and
international
(global) information infrastructures and networks. GIIS aims
at
identifying and promoting the exchange of knowledge on
these
interrelated issues and provides liaison to bodies in the
global
society, technical fora and international standards. GIIS 2014
follows
the success of the precedent editions and intends to
promote
interdisciplinary conference sessions to discuss, build and
further
the use of national and international information infrastructures
and
networks. The conference also aims at providing a forum for
the
participants to broaden professional contacts and for
technical
discussions and interactions on specific information
infrastructure
and networking topics. Information Infrastructure and Networking
(IIN)
brings together information processing applications,
communications
networks and services, physical and software elements in networks,
and
end systems. The program of GIIS 2014 will include invited talks
and
keynotes, paper presentations, tutorials, panel, and
discussion
sessions.

SPECIAL TRACK ON CLOUD INFRASTRUCTURES AND NETWORKING

GIIS 2014 will include this year a special track dedicated to
cloud
infrastructures and networking in order to present and publish
the
latest results in this area. In order to ensure complete coverage
of
the advances in this field, the Special Track solicits
original
contributions in, but not limited, to:

- Infrastructure-as-a-Service Model (IaaS)
- Deployment Models (e.g. Private, Public, Hybrid Clouds)
- Integration, Composition and Outsourcing of Services into
the Cloud
- Content and Service Distribution in the Cloud
- Big Data Management and Analytics
- Management and Optimization of Clouds and Data Centers
- Intra-Cloud and Inter-Cloud Management
- Cloud Monitoring, Traffic Characterization and Traffic
Engineering
- Cloud Performance (e.g. Distribution, Reliability,
Elasticity/Auto-Scaling)
- Cloud Security (Threats, Risks and Counter-Measures)
- Cloud Pricing (e.g. Measured/Metered Services)
- Resource Virtualization (e.g. Virtual Machines, Virtual
Networks)
- Virtual Ethernet Switching, Data Center Bridging
- Optical Interconnects, Fiber Channels
- Storage Management, Storage Area Networks
- Green/Energy-Efficient Data Centers and Cloud Networking Cloud
and
- Constrained Networks (Internet of Things, Smartphones)
