CALL FOR PAPERS<br>
<br>
Special Issue, the International Journal on Network Management
(IJNM):<br>
"Advances in Management of Multimedia Services"<br>
<br>
Submission Deadline: November 1, 2014 Publication: July 1, 2015<br>
<br>
Scope of the Special Issue<br>
<br>
In recent years, we observe several important trends in the
delivery<br>
of multimedia services: (i) increase of video bandwidth,
necessitating<br>
content placement, prioritization, scheduling, and
cloud-assisted<br>
streaming, (ii) increased importance of Quality of Experience
(QoE)<br>
for the end user, (iii) complex multimedia consumption
patterns<br>
(interactive multiple screen applications, non-linear TV
content<br>
consumption over-the-top streaming), (iv) increased mobile
video<br>
consumption (e.g. on smart phones, tablets) over several
wireless<br>
technologies, and (v) increased interest in adaptive streaming,
where<br>
client software determines the desired quality level for
segmented<br>
content.<br>
<br>
These trends pose interesting challenges for the efficient
management<br>
of multimedia services and applications. The traditional
approach of<br>
management through a set of Quality of Service parameters (e.g.
packet<br>
loss, delay, jitter) is no longer sufficient: the quality as
perceived<br>
by the end users -the Quality of Experience (QoE)- should be
taken<br>
into account as well. For this special issue, we welcome
submissions<br>
addressing these challenges (e.g. in the areas listed below)
and<br>
presenting novel research or experimentation results.<br>
<br>
Areas of Interest<br>
<br>
Contributions to the following topics are of specific interest,
but<br>
are not limited to:<br>
* Optimized multimedia network management<br>
* Advanced network control for multimedia delivery<br>
* Advanced content placement<br>
* Cooperative caching<br>
* Prediction-based caching<br>
* Definition of QoE: methods and tools<br>

* Network diagnostics, tracing, troubleshooting for multimedia
service<br>
delivery<br>
* Dynamic resource management for mobile services<br>
